How to Fix Cisco Solid Green Syst LED light No Connection No Console

The Problem:

I have a Cisco Switch 3750e. The Syst Led is solid green after reboot. It was working fine untill it was rebooted.

The Cause:

It is the hardware, the memory component.

A temporary fix?

Open the case and remove the heat sink.

Use a hot gun to heat up the memory components for about 5-10 mins. This will “reflow” the solder connections on the chips.

Good luck!

MY MOST SINCERE GRATITUDE SIR THANK YOU.

Was about to pull the trigger on eBay for another $400 switch when I found your post. Used the WIFE’s hair dryer for a minute or so with the heat sink still in place because I could not remove it easily.

    THANK YOU!

    Hi,
Did you heat up the memory chips while the switch was powered on or did you apply heat while it was off?

    Hi,
Did you heat up the memory chips while the switch was powered on or did you apply heat while it was off? I have a 2960 with the same issue and it started when I reboot the switch.

Wow, this actually worked. I just got a 3750 switch off eBay and when I powered it on, only the syst light would be on after post. I could not console to it at all. I removed the cover and used my wife hair dryer to heat up around the heat sinks for about 2 minutes, and hey presto the switch is now working. Thanks for the tip.

Tried this on a 3560G with similar symptoms. Doesn’t finish booting, all indicator lights green / amber, no output via serial connection.

    It working perfectly. Thank you!!
