How to detect if you’re behind a transparent proxy?

Step 1 Try to connect to a server you know does not exist.

Step 2 If there’s no proxy, you’ll see a typical error message in your browser.

Chrome says, “This site can’t be reached,”

If you see something else, there is likely a proxy.
